Contraindications
NOTE: Direct moxa, indirect moxa and moxa applied on needle must be always administrated and used under the supervision of a qualified doctor.
Do not let patients unattended while using moxa!
Do not use moxa directly on face, on soft skin or on other sensitive areas of the body.
Do not use moxa on infants or young children.
Do not use moxa on patients who are not able to detect sensations of heat or pain (for example: old people, patients with nerve damage, etc.).
When using moxa on needle, it is recommended a protection shield (aluminium foil, for example) which must be placed under and around the needle to protect the skin from the ashes. When using moxa rolls, burnt ashes must be removed frequently.
For patient safety, do not use moxa rolls or any moxa product if damaged or cracked.
Always ignite stick-on moxa (self-adhesive moxa) first and then apply them to the point. If heat becomes uncomfortable, remove or move moxa to another location. If used incorrectly, redness or a blister may appear after application of heat, which normally disappears within a few days.
